I don't mean the Chain/Franchise as we know it today, but the original which was located at Edward Street?

also do you think the Chain holds up to the original, which one was better?

    please comment?

Hey Mej, welcome to the forum :)

I'm not too familiar with the shingle Inn, but I did a little research. Originally opening in 1936.. it apparently had to close due to 'inner-city developments in August 2002".... the Queens Plaza development.

Vicki Bridgestock organised a campaign to move all the original interior to the new located in the City Hall.

It seems its one of/or the oldest running restaurants in Brisbane. Pretty nice story behind the Shingle Inn which I didn't know about.. I'll venture out and have a look as I haven't been there.... surely the original holds out better than the new franchises versions? with its authenticity Tudor look?
